Allstate Mobile is a mobile app presented by the car insurance company of the same name. The app offers various features connected with Allstate insurance, starting with rewards for safe driving and ending with filing claims.
Functionality: Everything Except Drivewise 2/5
One of the most promoted features of this app is Drivewise and is intended to record your rides and reduce your car insurance bills if you drive safely. Unfortunately, most users in their reviews report that the feature is not working for them.
As for the other features, Allstate Mobile offers to view auto coverage, quickly filing claims with attaching photos inside the app, accessing your agent’s info, and a gas station lookup tool, which compares prices of gas stations nearby. Without considering the Drivewise feature, the app looks pretty useless. It will be suitable only for contacting the agent or filing a claim, which is not what you would expect from an insurance app.
Design: Back in Time 2/5
The design of the app looks pretty outdated. The buttons are large, the captions are big as well, and the colors are not very harmonious. You would not expect a trendy design from an insurance app, though it could be much better. Allstate Mobile creates an impression of an app for old phones with low resolutions, where the only option to make captions recognizable was to oversize them. However, this might be an advantage for elderly people with poor eyesight.
Usability: Get Structured 3/5
The usability isn’t great as well. The menus are structured poorly, and sometimes you will get lost in them. There are no fixed buttons for main sections at the bottom of the screen, and you have to push the “go back” arrow several times in order to get to the main menu. It does not truly correspond to modern user interface trends, where it is usually possible to quickly switch between tabs and easily find a specific feature.
Cross-platform use: One at a Time 2/5
There are not so many cross-platform opportunities for Allstate mobile. The app is only available for Android and iOS, so there are not many platforms to cross. You can also login to your account on the Allstate website if you are using a PC. You can use one account on several devices, one at a time. Useful if you need to file a claim and do not have your mobile device available, but no more than that.
Despite the mentioned problems, we still recommend using the app, as there is no choice for Allstate clients. Choosing the insurance service is another question, but the app might turn out useful for filing claims, paying bills, and checking up the insurance status.
Pros : Option to file a claim within the app;
Option to pay bills.
Cons : Drivewise feature is not working properly;
There are no useful features, except the ones mentioned in “pros”.
