Amazon Alexa is an app for setting up Alexa-enabled devices, playing music, controlling smart home devices, etc. It was developed by Amazon and initially released in 2014.
Functionality: Almost Everything 4/5
Amazon Alexa app has a lot of features. First of all, it is deeply integrated with Echo devices and offers personalized recommendations along with connection instructions. The app also has many features to control smart home devices, from lights to thermostats. It is also integrated with Amazon shopping and allows us to create and manage shopping lists. Moreover, the app allows you to set specific routines for features you use most. The app comes along with a smart assistant, activated by voice, and able to perform various actions.
Design: Attractive 4/5
The app’s design is almost perfect, as most features are presented with stylish icons, most captions are easily recognizable, and the color palette is pleasing to the eye. There are also minimalistic artworks for many features, making it pretty intuitive to navigate through the app. The app mostly utilizes blue shades for backgrounds and white for captions, which is an excellent choice in terms of contrast.
Usability: All in One 4/5
Amazon Alexa app offers a pretty simple user interface. Thanks to the instructions provided and the interface structure, it is comparably easy to navigate through the app. The features provided are very different, but they are cleverly separated into different menus, making it very comfortable to use the app. Connecting Echo devices is extremely easy and requires several dozens of seconds to be performed. However, many users report troubles with connecting other devices, so you probably should check compatibility, unless you do not own an Echo device.
Cross-platform use: Crossy Roads 4/5
Amazon has its app available on both mobile and PC. Despite the features slightly different, the core of the app is the same. In order to connect another device, you download the app and log in to your Alexa account, which is pretty convenient for cross-platform users.
